Training Age-appropriate Media Usage
This first topic of the chapter is really extensive, but it provides you with all the necessary basics to teach parents, teachers or other adults why and how to guide their children well in the digital world. It helps reduce conflict in the family when adults understand why digital media is so fascinating to kids. The endless amount of uses and social interactions are like a giant playground and hangout for kids. Adults must learn to balance between the child's desire to use digital media and their assessment of whether the child is ready for it.
It can be exhausting to control children's media use. Parents should therefore be aware of technical ways to limit use to an age-appropriate level and also know how to negotiate the media use together with children.
