About the topic "Data Protection and Privacy"

"They already know everything about me anyway." That's what many people say when you ask them about data protection and privacy. But you can really make a difference if you choose digital apps and services carefully and make settings to limit data use. Adults should be especially careful with children and young people's data, as they are usually not in a position to take care of it themselves. For this reason, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) places a special focus on protecting children's data.

In a world where social media pushes us to publish every detail of our private lives, it is important to learn how to reduce the amount of data and to critically question this development. Adults are often not good role models, as they too publish an incredible amount of data. Our lesson therefore begins by making these data traces visible on the web and illustrating what quantities of data are collected and what information can be derived from them.
